Proposition S Building for Success

Thanks to San Diego voters who support investing in the future, our district has funding to renovate our aging schools and upgrading wiring to allow for the most advanced technology for our students.

On Nov. 4, 2008, nearly 69 percent of voters in San Diego passed the $2.1 billion general obligation bond measure, Prop. S.

This bond program will provide resources to repair, renovate and revitalize 181 neighborhood schools.

Prop. S extends the previously voter approved Proposition MM tax rate ($66.70 per $100,000 assessed value of taxable property), from 2029, to 2044. We thank you again, San Diego, and our students will thank you for generations to come.

School Improvements to Support Student Health, Safety and Security

  • Provide campus-wide emergency communications system
  • Install security lighting, as well as, increase vandalism and intrusion safeguards, including modifications to fencing
  • Remove or minimize risks of any potentially hazardous material throughout the facility
  • Provide air-conditioning in educational spaces

Projects to Improve School Accessibility, Code Compliance Upgrades

  • Renovate existing restrooms
  • Improve accessibility to all classrooms, labs, restrooms, and other school facilities to comply with accessibility regulations including ADA Title I & II
  • Install hand sink
  • Install a grease trap to comply with city regulations in the kitchen
  • Repair/replace/remove old portable classrooms

Major Building Systems Repair/Replacement

  • Repair site sidewalks and hardscape areas
  • Repair/replace heating and ventilation systems as needed
  • Replace deteriorated flooring as needed
  • Repair/replace damaged or stained ceiling finishes as needed
  • Repair/restore building interiors, exteriors, finishes and fixtures
  • Upgrade electrical system as needed
  • Repair/replace/upgrade performance spaces/multipurpose rooms
